28 June 2015 This week's Update

Hello everyone.  Can't believe it's Sunday again already - the weeks really are flying past.  And we will be into the second half of the year this week - dare I mention the C word yet?

So here's what we are up to this week with updates from last week and some dates for your diary at the end of the post.

Monday is the next of our free skills demo days.  This week we have Marcia from Marcia's Memories demonstrating book folding.

This has become very popular recently but Marcia has been doing this for quite some time and actually produces her own patterns which are available to purchase.  She will also make bespoke patterns specially for you.  In fact she now spend more time making the patterns than she does actually doing the book folding.

So do call in to see how it's done - it's not as difficult to do as you might think!  She will be in The Venue between 10am and 2pm so you can just drop in and drop out at your leisure.

Thursday is our second free skills demo day of the week and Sheila from Sewing MANIA will be back demonstrating patchwork skills.  If you have any questions about patchwork and quilting then Sheila's your man, so to speak!  She is extremely knowledgeable and loves to share her expertise with others.

Alongside Sheila on Thursday will be Mrs Charlie from Charlie Cards making her pop up box cards.  These are extremely popular right now and aren't difficult to make - a tad fiddly maybe - but definitely not difficult.  So do call in to see how it's done.

Sheila and Mrs Charlie will be in The Venue between 10am and 4.00pm - and again this is a free drop-in, drop-out session.

Friday is the next of our free absolute beginner's crochet workshops hosted by Kim from Vimbo Crafts.

Because Kim likes to be able to give one to one tuition during these workshops they are bookable in advance.  Keep an eye on the blog for details of her next session.

Saturday is our normal weekly market day - the first one in July.  All items on sale have been handmade by our crafters at home so if you are looking for something unique then do call in and have a browse.  And of course we always have gluten-free, dairy-free, lactose-free and soya-free food products there too - supplied by Sue from Rainbow Cakes and Bakes - all freshly home baked and suitable for freezing too.

Here's a little sneak peek of what you might find there on Saturday.

Feedback from last week.

On Monday Angela was in The Venue demonstrating jewellery making techniques - and we did remember to take a couple of photos this time!

On Thursday we held a lady themed market day instead of our normal skills demo day.

Saturday was our normal weekly market day.

Also on Saturday we were out in the central mall at Manor Walks for our Minion themed kid's crafting event.

For 50p kids were able to decorate a minion biscuit and all the money raised goes to the Guide Dog Association

The youngest to have a go was 18 months old - and the oldest 'kid' was 67!  In all there were 52 minion biscuits decorated.  I'm not sure many of the biscuits actually made it home with the kids though!

21 June Weekly News Bulletin

Hello again everyone - here I am again with our weekly news update for the coming week and a few advance dates for your diary at the end of the post.

 The week ahead

Monday sees Angela from AyVee Jewellery Design back in The Venue between 10am and 4pm demonstrating jewellery making techniques.  This is a drop-in, drop-out session so please call in at your leisure.  Angela is an experienced jewellery maker and will be able to answer any questions you might have.

Thursday is a Market Day this week, and the theme of this particular market will be "Ladies" - so if you are looking for a unique gift or card for a lady, or just fancy treating yourself then this is the place to be.  All things female is the order of the day!  We will be there in The Venue between 9.30am amd 5.00pm.

Saturday is our usual weekly Market Day in The Venue.  We are there between 9.30am and 5.00pm with a selection of handcrafted gifts, cards and gluten-free food.

Here's a sneak peak of what you might see this week.

Also on Saturday we have our next "Krafty Kidz"event in the central mall of Manor Walks Shopping Centre, Cramlington.  This will take place outside Boots and this time will be Minion themed.

Come along and try your hand at decorating minion biscuits!

We work closely with the management of Manor Walks and The Vue Cinema in Cramlington for many of our kids crafting events so there might even be some minion themed promotional goodies up for grabs!

We charge £1 per child for these events, and the money goes to our chosen charity for 2015, which is The Guide Dog Association

At the end of this event we will be drawing our minion themed raffle - get your ticket for a chance to win one of two cute little minion toys or a family ticket to The Vue Cinema in Cramlington to see the new film.  Tickets are available from The Venue and cost £1 per strip.  The proceeds from this also go to The Guide Dog Association.

 Feedback from last week

Monday was skills demo day with Angela from AyVee jewellery.  Unfortunately we forgot to take pics, but Angela had a good day - so good she is back again on Monday to repeat the experience.

Thursday was skills demo day with Mrs Charlie from Charlie Cards and Sheila from Sewing MANIA.

Sheila managed to finish something she has been working on for some time while she was there last week (in between talking to our visitors about patchwork and sharing her vast knowledge on the subject).

We had an extremely busy morning at our Saturday market this week - thankfully we got a bit of breathing space in the afternoon.  Thank you to everyone who came into The Venue to see us.

We also had three surprise visitors on Saturday when Irene, Alison and Yana called in to see us.  Irene is blind and Yana is her gorgeous and well behaved guide dog  - she chose Yana's name because it stands for "You Are Never Alone".  Here are Irene and Yana drawing the raffle at our very successful coffee morning/afternoon tea event which we held on 14 March.

We enjoyed our day so much in March that we have plans to repeat it all over again in September and once again the proceeds will be to The Guide Dog Association - watch this space for more information!

Something New at Lev3l 3

Sheila has been working on embroidered cushion covers for some time and now has a set of three completed and ready for sale.

They really are beautiful and now grace her shelf in the window of The Venue.

They are priced individually but are available at a discounted price for the set of three.  But she only has one set ......

At our market day on Saturday we introduced a new concept for Lev3l 3 Community Crafters.  We now have a small number of "packages" available for sale.  These packages are baby themed gift sets which contain items made by different crafters.  Buying the items as a gift set package means a discounted price compared to buying each item individually.

Currently we only have one each of three of different packages available - but who knows - perhaps we will expand the range in the coming months.  Watch this space for further news about gift sets!
