28 June 2015 This week's Update

Hello everyone.  Can't believe it's Sunday again already - the weeks really are flying past.  And we will be into the second half of the year this week - dare I mention the C word yet?

So here's what we are up to this week with updates from last week and some dates for your diary at the end of the post.

Monday is the next of our free skills demo days.  This week we have Marcia from Marcia's Memories demonstrating book folding.

This has become very popular recently but Marcia has been doing this for quite some time and actually produces her own patterns which are available to purchase.  She will also make bespoke patterns specially for you.  In fact she now spend more time making the patterns than she does actually doing the book folding.

So do call in to see how it's done - it's not as difficult to do as you might think!  She will be in The Venue between 10am and 2pm so you can just drop in and drop out at your leisure.

Thursday is our second free skills demo day of the week and Sheila from Sewing MANIA will be back demonstrating patchwork skills.  If you have any questions about patchwork and quilting then Sheila's your man, so to speak!  She is extremely knowledgeable and loves to share her expertise with others.

Alongside Sheila on Thursday will be Mrs Charlie from Charlie Cards making her pop up box cards.  These are extremely popular right now and aren't difficult to make - a tad fiddly maybe - but definitely not difficult.  So do call in to see how it's done.

Sheila and Mrs Charlie will be in The Venue between 10am and 4.00pm - and again this is a free drop-in, drop-out session.

Friday is the next of our free absolute beginner's crochet workshops hosted by Kim from Vimbo Crafts.

Because Kim likes to be able to give one to one tuition during these workshops they are bookable in advance.  Keep an eye on the blog for details of her next session.

Saturday is our normal weekly market day - the first one in July.  All items on sale have been handmade by our crafters at home so if you are looking for something unique then do call in and have a browse.  And of course we always have gluten-free, dairy-free, lactose-free and soya-free food products there too - supplied by Sue from Rainbow Cakes and Bakes - all freshly home baked and suitable for freezing too.

Here's a little sneak peek of what you might find there on Saturday.

Feedback from last week.

On Monday Angela was in The Venue demonstrating jewellery making techniques - and we did remember to take a couple of photos this time!

On Thursday we held a lady themed market day instead of our normal skills demo day.

Saturday was our normal weekly market day.

Also on Saturday we were out in the central mall at Manor Walks for our Minion themed kid's crafting event.

For 50p kids were able to decorate a minion biscuit and all the money raised goes to the Guide Dog Association

The youngest to have a go was 18 months old - and the oldest 'kid' was 67!  In all there were 52 minion biscuits decorated.  I'm not sure many of the biscuits actually made it home with the kids though!
